3ºESO english project 2 (2012-13)

Playing the game

You probably practice sport but, even if you don't, you surely watch it on TV. You are not a sporty person? No problem! You must know who are Messi, Nadal, Gasol ... and that's the only thing you need to do this project.

There are so many famous sportspeople that it will be very easy to choose one and tell the rest of your classmates about him/her.

tasks

  1. Make groups of three or four.
  2. Choose a sportsperson.
  3. Find information about them (personal information and professional life) and some pictures.
  4. Think of two other sportspeople who play the same sport, and find pictures of them.
  5. Make a poster, a video or a powerpoint with your information. You must include:

    -

two timelines, one with personal information
(when and where they were born, where they live, if they are married or have a boy/girlfriend, if they have got any children, etc.) and one for his/her professional live (when they started playing that sport, which teams they have played for, etc.)

TIP: if you google "timeline" and look for pictures, you'll see lots of examples.

    -

a map showing some of the places where your sportperson has won a tournament, a race, etc.

    -

pictures (each member of the group must describe one picture along the presentation, using past tense verbs).

TIP: revise how to describe a picture and include all elements (general overview, move around the picture, etc.).

    -

comparison with two other sportspeople (using comparative and superlative sentences.)

  6. Write a script and hand it to your teacher.
  7. Present your project to the class (presentation tips).

All the project is in past or only the pictures?

All the project. You have to talk about a person's background :-)
